Orwell’s Dreams

A “terror list” without any democratic supervision? This awful idea by the EU Council of Ministers truly deserves a BigBrotherAward! The German Ministry for Economics and Technology has not been idle either: they are busy constructing an Orwellian database to store wage data about all employees in Germany. The award follows suit. More awards go to Deutsche Telekom and to electricity provider Yello Strom.

The BigBrotherAwards highlight privacy and data protection offenders in business and politics, or as the French paper Le Monde once put it, they are the “Oscars for data leeches”.
